About the Film
Join us for a special presentation and conversation on Friday, Dec 18th at 6pm with Park City-based filmmaker and founder of the annual Filmmakers Showcase, Jill Orschel, about her feature film in progress – “Snowland.”
“Snowland” tells the fascinating story of Cora Lee Witt, a woman who created a fantasy realm to escape her dark past as a child bride in the secretive, polygamous FLDS sect located in the Short Creek community on the border between Hildale, UT, and Colorado City, AZ. Jill will premiere the never-before-seen “Snowland” trailer and talk with PC Film Executive Director Katy Wang about the seven years she spent building a relationship with Cora and uncovering her artistic alter-ego C.Raven, a self-taught craftsperson, painter, costume designer, author, and creator of the Snowland realm. C.Raven’s Snowland is a magical world full of fairies and castles, which allowed Cora to transport herself away from her abusive marriage as a second wife and find healing and power in her creativity.
Registration is required for this special presentation for a suggested minimum donation of $10. Donated funds to the crowdfunding campaign will support post production work on “Snowland.” Details available here. Questions about registration? Please contact us via email here.
