About the Film
49 million people in the U.S. – one in four children – don’t know where their next meal is coming from. A Place at the Table examines this issue with the personal and engaging stories of three people facing food insecurity: a single mother in Philadelphia, a Colorado second-grader who often has to depend on friends and neighbors to feed her, and a Mississippi student whose asthma is exacerbated by a lack of good nutrition. Their stories are interwoven with insights from experts, ordinary citizens, and activists like Top Chef’s Tom Colicchio and Oscar-winning actor Jeff Bridges. This documentary encourages us to explore the ways that making healthy food available and affordable is in the best interest of us all.
