Set in contemporary Iran, this compelling drama is filled with universal themes and ethical dilemmas. Simin wants to leave Iran with her husband, Nader, and their daughter. When Nader refuses to leave behind his elderly father, Simin files for divorce and returns to her parents’ home alone. In his wife’s absence, Nader hires a young woman to assist with his father, hoping that his life will return to normal. When he discovers that the new maid has been lying to him, he realizes that there is more on the line than just his marriage.
