About the Film
One of the more intriguing foreign language films of the season, Pedro Almodovar’s Bad Education brings together an autobiographical story dealing with his troubled religious education and classic “film noir” storytelling. Garcia Bernal, last seen in The Motorcycle Diaries, plays a struggling actor who presents a filmmaker friend with a script based on their fervid Catholic-school past. There are abundant pop culture references, nods to classic movies and truckloads of transvestites in Almodovar’s most ambitious film to date.
