About the Film
James Cagney portrays an American editor of a Tokyo newspaper who dares to print the story of the world-conquest plan formulated by Japanese militarists. Naturally, the fur flies when the paper hits the street. The police confiscate the papers, the Japanese secret police demand a retraction from the publisher, and the editor threatens to walk out if the latter does so. Quickly, Cagney finds himself in the midst of a dual murder committed by the Japanese upon a US newspaper pal and his wife, who were leaving Japan to bring to America the document describing the world-conquest plot in detail.
