Stephen Frears, the director of The Queen, returns with this melodrama starring the still gorgeous Michelle Pfeiffer, the dashing Rupert Friend and the always entertaining Kathy Bates. An adaptation of Colette’s 1920 novel, the story is set in late 19th century Paris where numerous courtesans have worked their way up through the ranks of high society. Cheri, a young man in need of tutoring in the art of love, becomes more than a pet project to an experienced older woman.
