About the Film
This 1987 Emmy Award winning documentary features real-life letters written by American soldiers, sailors, airmen, and Marines during the Vietnam War to their families and friends back home. Archive footage of the war and news coverage augment the first-person narratives to create a highly personal experience of the Vietnam War.
The film also won the Special Jury Prize: Documentary at Sundance Film Festival in 1988. Presented in partnership with Park City Museum and supported by a grant from The Park City Community Foundation.
