This film won the Palm d’Or (grand prize) at the most recent Cannes Film Festival. It is a fictionalized account of the Columbine High School tragedy. Director Gus Van Sant assembles a cast of non-professional actors which gives the film a haunting realism. High school life is portrayed as mundane until the violence erupts.
