About the Film
Ever heard of “Girl Dinner?” Filled with yummy small bites and your favorite snacks, we wanted this film tour to reflect the dinners we love so much – short films with range. These stories will fill you up with rad skiing, deep storytelling, and good humor – just like your favorite mix of food for “girl dinner.”
Girl Winter Film Tour stops will make you want to start planning dawn patrols and lift laps for this upcoming season right this second! Each event will showcase 6 films followed by a Q+A and poster signing with the athletes and filmmakers who brought the films to life. The event will run approximately an hour and a half.
We hope these screenings will provide a space to continue the celebration of women in snow sports. All are welcome!
Part of the Raising Voices Film Series.
About the films:
NISEI (nee-say) is a creative exploration of the biracial experience of skier, Sierra Schlag. While in Japan, she is seen as white and while in America, she is seen as Japanese and never accepted as her full self. Through the lens of skiing, Schlag finds herself on a journey to self-discovery within the two cultures she has ties to.
Nisei: a person born in North America whose parent(s) were immigrants from Japan
KINDRED – Devin Logan and Caroline Claire, both from Long Island, are U.S. Olympic team members and skiing soulmates. Join them as they take the next bold step in their illustrious careers: Big lines, raw honesty, and camaraderie that stretches from the half pipe to the backcountry.
*Please note: Kindred contains the use of adult language. This film will play last so sensitive ears can enjoy the rest of the films and head out if needed!
CONSONANCE – Consonance means “harmony or agreement among components,” as well as “correspondence or recurrence of sounds.” A balance between fast and slow pacing, soft and powerful expression, Erin Spong’s “Consonance” dances the line between harmonized breath and movement.
