About the Film
This is the most critically-acclaimed foreign language film so far this year. A sheltered young woman raised in a convent is preparing to become a nun when the Mother Superior insists she first visit her sole living relative. She is shocked to learn that her Jewish parents were victims of the Nazis. In light of this revelation, she must confront her past and decide who she will be in the future. Beautifully directed, powerfully written and eloquently shot, this juxtaposition of the personal with the historic makes for what is surely one of the most powerful and affecting films of the year.
