About the Film
It is hard to describe the sweetness and delicacies of this small marvel of a movie. Jim Sheridan (director of the memorable My Left Foot) recounts the autobiographical story of moving to New York with his wife and two young daughters from Ireland two decades ago. Despite the usual difficulties of New York immigrant life, the film is brimming with warmth, emotion, humor and optimism in the face of tough circumstances.
The film was nominated for several Oscars including Best Actress, Supporting Actor and Screenplay.
