About the Film
Although it was set in Alabama of 1989, this real-life To Kill a Mockingbird court drama is as relevant as ever. Starring Academy Award winner Jamie Foxx as framed death-row inmate Walter McMillian and Michael B. Jordan as his lawyer Bryan Stevenson, JUST MERCY is a forceful, timely film about race, injustice, and the courage of two men facing a system stacked against them.
With expert direction from Destin Daniel Cretton (SHORT TERM 12) and strong performances from Brie Larson, O’Shea Jackson Jr., and Tim Blake Nelson, JUST MERCY is a gut-punching journey inside America’s broken criminal justice system.
Post-film discussion Sunday night with Professor Jensie Anderson, University of Utah S.J. Quinney College of Law and Rocky Mountain Innocence Center.
