About the Film
In “Lady Bird,” a multiple award-season nominee and NY Film Critics Circle Best Picture winner, Greta Gerwig reveals herself to be a bold new cinematic voice with her directorial debut – revealing both the humor and pathos in the turbulent bond between a mother and her teenage daughter. Christine (Saoirse Ronan), a senior at a Catholic high school, argues all the time with her wildly loving, deeply opinionated and strong-willed mother (Laurie Metcalf). Part autobiographical and set in Sacramento in 2002, Lady Bird is a funny and moving look at the relationships that shape us, the beliefs that define us, and the need to be oneself.
