About the Film
Maiden is the story of the first ever all-female crew to enter the Whitbread Round the World sailing race in 1989. Their inspirational dream was opposed on all sides: their male competitors thought an all-women crew would never make it, the chauvinistic yachting press took bets on their failure, and potential sponsors rejected them, fearing they would die at sea and generate bad publicity. But they refused to give up and they went on to shock the sport world and prove that women are very much the equals of men.
Post-film Q&A via Skype Sunday night with U.S. Olympic Sailor and member of Team SCA in the 2014/2015 Volvo Ocean Race, Sally Barkow.
