About the Film
This Hollywood adaptation of the Marie Belloc Lowndes novel The Lodger stars a very young Jack Palance as a research pathologist who rents an attic room on the night of the third Jack the Ripper slaying and quickly becomes a suspect. As more and more evidence points to their soft-spoken tenant, landlords William and Helen Harley begin to fear for their showgirl niece (Constance Smith) in this Hugo Fregonese directed noir classic.
