About the Film
In this sophisticated and heartfelt comedy Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day, Academy Award winner Frances McDormand plays the film’s title role opposite Academy Award nominee Amy Adams. In 1939 London, Miss Guinevere Pettigrew is an out of work governess who arrives at a penthouse apartment for an interview. She is catapulted into the glamorous and dizzying social world of an American actress and singer. Taking on the job of social secretary, she tries to help her new employer navigate a love life and career, both of which are complicated by three handsome men. Miss Pettigrew herself is blushingly drawn to a gallant gentleman. Over the next 24 hours, the women will empower each other to discover their romantic destinies.
