About the Film
Dame Judi Dench stars as an upper crust British matron who, upon becoming a widow, buys a London music hall as a diversion. She hires Bob Hoskins as the artistic director and together set out to make British theatrical history. Attempting to outdo the competition of vaudeville shows, Mrs. Henderson is the first to bring a Paris-like nude review to London with all the attending problems and humor.
Dench, nominated for a Best Actress Oscar, gives a feisty performance as a powerful, independent and spirited woman.
One of the wittiest comedies to come our way in a very long time. – Newsweek
