About the Film
Premiering at last year’s Cannes Film Festival, this is a powerful and eloquent story of one young girl and her fight for survival in Taliban-controlled Afghanistan. It is the first feature film to come out of that country since the Taliban were routed by the U.S. invasion. Apart from its historical interest, the film is emotionally gripping in its portrayal of a young girl and the extreme difficulties that women of all ages suffered under the oppressive religious extremism of the Taliban.
