About the Film
Dr. Clinton Reed, a U.S. Public Health Official (Richard Widmark) discovers that an innocent shooting victim in a robbery died of pneumonic plague, a deadlier airborne version of bubonic plague. With only 48 hours to find the killers who are carrying the deadly plague (played by Jack Palance and Zero Mostel), the police along with Dr. Reed embark on a grisly manhunt through the seamy underworld of the New Orleans Waterfront. Panic in the Streets won the Academy Award for Best Motion Picture Story.
