About the Film
The Counterfeiters won the Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film. Salomon Sorowitsch may be a talented artist at heart, but his desire for wealth has driven him to use his creativity as Germany’s top counterfeiter. Arrested by the police at the onset of World War II, Sorowitsch is sent to a concentration camp. Eventually, he is forced to participate in a Nazi plan to create counterfeit British pounds and American dollars. The team members must perform if they wish to live. They must wrestles with their consciences and decide if they should help the Nazis and survive or sabotage the plan and make the ultimate sacrifice. This is a powerful and well-acted film deserving of its Oscar.
