About the Film
William Wyler directed and produced this compelling thriller based on the Joseph Hayes novel and play. Hayes also wrote the screenplay. This is one of the most notable films on the theme of home-invasion assault in American suburbia, Humphrey Bogart plays Glenn Griffin, a murderer who escapes from a Terre Haute (Indiana) prison, and along with his gang, invade the Indianapolis suburban home of Federic March, who plays Dan Hilliard. Griffin takes the executive and his family hostage in order to hide out during a police manhunt.
