About the Film
Based on the novel by Claire Tomalin, this is a compelling story of longing, compromise, and restraint. Charles Dickens – famous, controlling and emotionally isolated within his success – falls for a beautiful young woman who comes from a family of actors. The theatre is a vital arena for Dickens, a brilliant amateur actor himself. The young woman becomes his muse as discretion and secrecy force them to hide their passion.
