About the Film
The Palm D’Or Grand Prize Winner of the Cannes Film Festival, this story takes place in Ireland in 1920. Workers from all over Ireland unite and form volunteer guerrilla armies to face the ruthless Black and Tan squads that are being shipped from Britain to block Ireland’s bid for independence. Driven by a deep sense of duty, a love for his country and the pressure put upon him by his friends and family, young, handsome Damien abandons his burgeoning career as a doctor to join his brother, Teddy, in a dangerous and violent fight for freedom. The two brothers fight side-by-side, united in their purpose and ideals. This is a powerful tale of sacrifice in the pursuit of freedom.
