About the Film
This stunning and timely film is an Academy Award Best Foreign Film nominee. Not far from the exotic African city of Timbuktu, a cattle herder lives peacefully in the mountains with his wife and children. The fundamentalists in the city have have outlawed music, laughter, and soccer, and rule with severity in their efforts to control the faith and lives of the people. The loving family is spared this chaos, until one day their destiny changes abruptly and they must make a life-changing decision.
