About the Film
Diane Lane stars as Frances, a recently divorced San Francisco writer, who goes on a bus tour of Tuscany and falls in love with a crumbling old villa. The movie uses the beloved 1996 memoir by Frances Mayes as both a primer on how to renovate a house and as a metaphor for reinvigorating one’s life. Along the way there are all manner of construction problems, inner personal dilemmas, great food, romance, laughter and some stunning views of Italy.
