Wordplay is a funny and very human story about the thousands of people who are obsessed with solving the daily New York Times crossword puzzle.
Will Shortz, The Times puzzle maven and long time editor, introduces us to the structure and obscure combinations that unlock each puzzle’s hidden meanings bringing joy to those who can solve it. The film culminates in the national championship in which intricate puzzles are solved within minutes. Puzzle lovers Jon Stewart and Bill Clinton make cameo appearances among other famous word freaks.
