About the Film
Japanese filmmaker Ryusuke Hamaguchji (WHEEL OF FORTUNE AND FANTASY) directs a haunting, cathartic adaptation of Haruki Murakami’s short story of love, loss, acceptance, and peace. In the wake of his wife’s death, a renowned stage actor and director (Hidetoshi Nishijima, SAMURAI’S PROMISE) makes a deep connection with his similarly affected driver (Toko Miura, SHE LIKES THAT). Forced to confront painful truths raised from their past, the unlikely pair embark on a journey of reflection, healing, and redemption.
Nominated for an Academy Award for Best Motion Picture, Best International Feature, Best Achievement in Directing, and Best Adapted Screenplay. In Japanese with English subtitles
