About the Film
The Wasatch Ultimate Ridge Linkup, known by Salt Lake City locals as simply “The WURL,” can hold its own against some of the most classic ridge-line traverses in the world. Yet it wasn’t until recently that the mountain sports community started to pay attention. With a route this grueling, (36 miles and over 20k feet of elevation gain) it took over a decade for less than 20 people to complete it. But now, The WURL has become a Wasatch rite of passage. “Rite of Passage” interviews several people who have completed the WURL (Jared Campbell, Alex Honnold, Jason & Stacey Dorais and more) while following local athlete Mali Noyes on her attempt to complete the route.
Post-film Q&A with director Tim Jones and athletes Mali Noyes, Alexis Crellin (previous FKT), Stacey Dorais (previous FKT), Jason Dorais (current FKT), Noah Howell and Jared Campbell, “creator” of The WURL. Part of the Made in Utah Film Series. Screening with the short film “Home Lines” – a low-carbon freeski adventure in the French Alps.
